well, have wrapped up our minivacation in boston - it was great! the weather was fantastics - highs in the mid 70's, and the wedding was a lot of fun. the flight was pretty un-eventful, and all the security checks were really smooth - some people are just getting too worked up over it. a new mangia pizza outlet opened up at hte airport, and we were walking by and noticed they had breakfast pizza. there was this one concoction of sausage, egg and gravy, so of course we had to get it. it was alternately disgusting and yummy all at the same time. tucker and i kept looking at each other, saying that we couldn't believe we were eating gravy pizza.
we landed, and went straight to legal to get a cup of chowder; needed to make sure we got that out of the way. then we checked into the hotel and headed to fenway! the game was awesome; we kicked the orioles butts! and of course, we gorged on the obligatory ballpark food: italian sausage, beer, lemonade, fries, peanuts. we were in a right field roof box and there was a light breeze and it was soo nice.
on saturday, i walked around and shopped and tucker walked around and we met up for lunch at figs. it was fun walking around the common and beacon hill. there were TONS of strollers and young kids everywhere. it was pretty amazing. i was trying to figure out how many of the people were tourists vs. actually living in the city. anyways, after walking around some more, we got ready for the wedding, which was about a 15 minute walk from our hotel.
we gave ourselves a pat on the back for getting there on time, a little early even. the ceremony was at this old, old church called king's chapel. the pews were these little booths with doors on them, it was so trippy! (pictures forthcoming) it was a sweet ceremony and of course, erin looked beautiful.
then it was another short walk across the common to the four seasons. erin did a great job picking the appetizers and dinner - everything was super yummy! we got to meet up with chris, an old babson schoolmate, and his wife jackie, who was on her first night out after giving birth to her little five month old! it was a lot of fun catching up with them and we had fun people watching and gabbing.
half a block walk to the hotel, then passing out and sleeping in on sunday. got up for lunch at the parish cafe, basedon jackie's recommendation of their lobster roll, and i had to say it was quite tasty!! after lunch, i met up with my friend nicole. we started on newbury street, and walked all of three blocks because we kept stopping to get something to drink or go in some store. then we decided to get a snack since we were meeting other people for a late dinner, and back we headed to the parish cafe for our second meal of the day.
walked around some more (lotsa walking), then we met up with courtney and dave for dinner. they got a babysitter for their two kiddos and drove down to meet us, so that was a ton of fun. after a yummy dinner and great conversation, we headed back to the hotel, to veg and watch entourage! it's not like i didn't have enough to eat, but around midnight, i got the munchies. so, of course, what do we do? we head back to parish cafe for the THIRD time and our FOURTH meal. it was great.
then it was up at 3:30 am the next morning to get to the airport and make sure we pass through all the screenings. un eventful flight back to austin, got picked up by mes (meemo emergency services), went out to lunch at a new place, the blue star cafeteria, and then home to pass out. i had grand hopes of unpacking and running errands on monday, but i was exhuasted! after a quick nap it was up again to head up to a round rock express game! our vp invited the whole hr group out to the game, so we had a nice air-conditioned room and munchies. seeing as it was my last hours of vacation, i decided to take advantage and stuff myself: three hot dogs, chips, nachos, ice cream bar and two sodas. of course, i felt sick afterwards, but that is the price one pays for fun, i guess. the round rock express game was pretty fun; it's a nice park since it's so new and there's lots of fun for the kids.
whew! and that was my weekend trip to boston.
